Join an exciting half-day eco journey along the Panama Canal next to the huge ships and experience some of Panama’s secret sights and sounds. You’ll hop aboard a high-speed motorboat and marvel at the breathtaking flora and fauna surrounding Gatun Lake.
Enjoy stops at Monkey Island and Sounds of Silence Island!
We will admire the fauna and vegetation of the tropical forest, as well as the Monkey Island where you could admire the White-Faced Capuchin Monkeys, Geoffrey’s Tamarin Monkeys and the Mantled Howler Monkeys in their natural habitat.
This is for those looking to witness spectacular scenery of the tropical jungles in the Panama Canal watershed. Just a short trip outside the city, the Gatun Lake & Monkey Islands Expedition has a mix of history, wildlife, nature, and the unique experience to travel by boat through the Panama Canal next to freight ships.
This tour is done from the comfort of a motorboat, with a small group. The tour will be guided by a certified guide, with an average of 4-5 people on the tour. Your guide can take you as close as possible to the monkeys and other animals, but always taking into account to not disturb them in their natural habitat or disrupt their natural feeding patterns.
Later we will visit the Sloth Sanctuary for watching three-toed and two-toed sloths that have been rescued. We will learn about life and habits of the sloths and the efforts for the conservation of the species through the volunteers and specialized guides.
After seeing the sloths we will go to the Butterfly House where we will observe the butterflies that live in the rainforest such as the colorful Blue Morpho Butterfly. We will also visit the orchid and frog exhibitions.
